Since 1998, mobile industry leaders have relied on Nielsen Telecom data to make confident consumer marketing, competitive strategy, and resource allocation decisions. Nielsen Telecom tracks the detailed wireless billing activity for 50,000 U.S. wireless lines, across the four leading carriers. Nielsen does this by inviting mobile subscribers to become a part of its bill panel by sharing their online billing login credentials with Nielsen in exchange for certain incentives. This allows Nielsen to author automated software that will login and collect certain data off of the consumer bills, yielding a broad view into the mobile behavior and expenses of wireless customers. The Research Analyst will processes bill panel data to deliver insights on everything from mobile voice minutes used, average dollars spent, mobile media downloads and text message activity. This position requires excellent analytical skills, a dedication to quality reporting, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Job Responsibilities: -- Monitor key trends, markets and behaviors in the telecommunication industry and assess impacts of these trends on the delivered data --Monitor new plans and offerings by wireless carriers, cable companies, and landline providers. --Perform analysis and quality reviews of client deliverables. --Investigate and analyze possible data errors using Excel and SQL. --Analyze data trends and investigate the reason for the trends. --Investigate and resolve data inquiries from internal customers. Produce comprehensive and coherent documentation explaining the findings of your investigation --Critically review production processes and provide recommendations for improvement




Requirements

--BA/BS degree in quantitative or social science discipline --1-3 years of experience working in analytical capacity, information-based services or consulting -- SQL - Ability to understand and write complex queries and views. Understand indexes and stored procedures. --Microsoft Excel - Ability to effectively use pivot tables, sorting and filtering to examine large spreadsheets. --Communication - Ability to clearly communicate with both offshore and onshore stakeholders including client services and product management. --Attention to Detail - Ability to examine large sets of data points. Must be thorough in analysis and execution. --Industry Experience - Experience in the wireless or media (Game, Music, Short Code) industry a plus. --Other Software Skills - SPSS, VBA
