Accounting Manager - Quest Software

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
This person will plan, organize, and perform all financial accounting, reporting, tax, and treasury functions of Quest Mexico while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance and the attainment of short and long term objectives consistent with the strategic direction of the company. This is a department of 1 and requires someone to be hands-on in all aspects of accounting and finance for our Mexico entity.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs all regular day-to-day and monthly accounting and finance responsibilities, including (60%):
Order processing, billing, and collection
Accounting for revenue recognition of software contracts in accordance with US and Mexican generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Vendor payments and accruals
Payroll, commission, bonus and related calculations, payments, and tax compliance
Banking & treasury, including cash management, forecasting and reporting
Intercompany accounting
Raising and posting general journal entries
Month-end close processing, account reconciliation, analyses and reporting to parent and local offices

2.Works proactively with external auditors, internal auditors, senior management, and Finance team to ensure Quest Mexico achieves and maintains compliance with US & Mexican GAAP, Corporate Accounting Policies and Procedures, SEC regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and local statutory requirements. (10%)

3.Performs various special projects and other ad-hoc assignments as directed by Senior Management. (10%)

4.Performs Human Resources functions in coordination with Corporate Human Resource personnel. This includes keeping personnel files, coordinating new hires and terminations, and providing payroll and personnel information to Corporate. This also includes working with the Country Manager and the external accountants to ensure proper compliance with applicable Mexican personnel laws regarding hiring, terminations, and recordkeeping for the calculations of vacation premiums, aguinaldos (Christmas bonuses), utilidad (profit sharing), and finiquitos (amounts due at termination). (10%)

5.Coordinates periodic financial and tax audits and reviews in accordance with local and corporate requirements (5%)

6.Ensures tax compliance of with local tax regulations, timely submission of returns and payment of VAT and other corporate taxes to local tax authorities (5%)


Requirements

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

A 4-year college education with an emphasis in accounting or finance, with a professional accounting certification preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of experience performing all aspects of accounting and finance activities, minimum 2 years performing these duties for a subsidiary of U.S. parent. Must have extensive experience in monthly close processes and reporting, as well as routine day-to-day accounting and finance activities. Experience and reliability in statutory reporting activities is required. Practical application of US and Mexican GAAP required. Experience with maintenance of financial applications/systems is required. Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.

Technical Knowledge:

A strong accounting and financial background required.
Strong knowledge of both US and Mexican GAAP required.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy required.
Experience in the software technology sector with functional knowledge of software licensing practices and revenue recognition accounting rules is highly desired.
Solid understanding of income tax regulations and reporting requirements required.

Communication/Interpersonal Skills:

Highly motivated, ethical performer with strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills is required in order to effectively communicate with local and corporate team members in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Must be fluent in English and be able to understand technical accounting language in English.
